Meditation on Balance
This four-piece series addresses the internal and external balance that can be achieved through intentional mental processing. The intention was to weave a high contrast pattern that billowed slightly, and gave the viewer a sense of optical illusion. Yet, the pattern also creates a pleasing sense of peace and balance. The colors are representative of the duality of thought patterns, how we often decide one way or the other. The weft of the pieces on the left side are repurposed bamboo sticks, and basketmaking reed on the right. I used both a thick and thin weft material to explore how balance could be achieved no matter the weight of our circumstance.
Each individual piece measures 10” x 12”
