Meditation on Natural Color

The Meditation on Natural Color series is only the beginning of an inquiry into the capabilities and limitations of natural, earth-harvested color. I am extremely fascinated by the harmonious relationship between color that can be extracted from the natural world.

I chose a round surface for these meditations for many reasons, the first being that their cyclical nature is reminiscent of our earth and home, as well as the circle of life that is inescapable even to the best of us. Having no beginning or end, the circle also represents the passing of time. 

I applied only handmade, plant-based paint to these works. They are pure in material and form, a perfect representation of how we may find harmony in the natural world if only we choose to seek it.
